CASE Executive Leadership Team:
Sue Cunningham is president and CEO of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, which supports over 3,700 schools, colleges and universities worldwide in developing their alumni relations, communications, fundraising and marketing operations. As CASE president and CEO, Ms. Cunningham provides strategic and operational leadership for one of the largest associations of education-related institutions in the world with members in over 80 countries.
Brett Chambers serves as vice president of volunteer and member engagement. In this role, Brett oversees operations associated with CASE’s volunteer leadership, including the CASE board and three advisory commissions for alumni relations, communications and marketing, and philanthropy. He also oversees specialized communities of practice and special projects for the office of the president. In addition, Brett is the liaison with CASE’s eight districts in North America.
Brett initially joined the CASE staff in 1987, working in the divisions of conference services and public and external affairs before becoming director of educational initiatives. He left CASE to serve as manager of resource development and corporate relations at the National Association of Independent Schools for about two years before returning to CASE in 2001. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Indiana University.
Linda Durant is vice president of development. In this role, she is responsible for setting fundraising priorities, identifying partnership opportunities, and devising strategies to secure funding for new services, products, and opportunities for CASE members. In addition, Linda is a member of the executive leadership team which guides the strategic direction of CASE.
Linda comes to CASE from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, where she had served as senior vice president for university advancement since 2003. Her accomplishments while at Widener University include completing the largest campaign in the institution's history and closing its largest-ever gift in support of the institution's goals to endow student aid, ensure faculty excellence, support new program initiatives, and meet capital project objectives. Prior to this role, Linda was vice president for institutional advancement for Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts. A seasoned professional with nearly 30 years in advancement, Linda began her career as a teacher.
Linda is a long-time volunteer of CASE, having served on the CASE Board of Trustees and chair of CASE Districts I and II. She is also a frequent presenter at CASE conferences and author of several articles in Currents, CASE's flagship publication. In addition, Linda was named CASE Professional of the Year by CASE District II in 2015.
Rob Henry is vice president of education at CASE where he is responsible for creating an overall global strategy for achieving CASE's vision and mission related to talent management and for guiding conference programming, diversity/inclusion initiatives, research, and the CASE Library.
Formerly an active CASE volunteer speaker and adviser, Rob joined the CASE staff in 2006 as head of emerging constituencies, later adding the responsibility for online educational programs. He previously held advancement management positions at Yale University, the University of Connecticut Foundation and Michigan State University.
Rob is a graduate of Murray State University and has a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University. In 2006, he received the prestigious CASE Crystal Apple Award for Teaching Excellence.
Ron Mattocks is chief operating officer at CASE. Appointed to the newly created position in July 2016, Ron oversees business development, financial management, information systems, human resources and investments for CASE. He also oversees the implementation of CASE's new strategic plan.
Previously, Ron served as CASE's vice president for marketing, membership and external relations. Before joining CASE in 2009, Ron served as principal of Mattocks & Associates Inc. and held senior-level marketing and membership roles at the American College of Cardiology, the American Society for Training and Development, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the New Jersey Hospital Association. In addition, he served as assistant vice president for institutional advancement at Rowan University in New Jersey.
Ron earned master's degrees in management from the University of Pennsylvania and in education/public relations from Rowan University. He earned a bachelor's degree from Cairn University.
Rob Moore serves as vice president of marketing and communications. He is responsible for developing a communications and marketing strategy to advance CASE's vision and mission through an integrated approach on a global basis, and leads a strong team of CASE marketing communications specialists who bring that strategy to life. Specifically, Rob oversees departments responsible for content development, brand expression, channel deployment, and advocacy, including the CASE website and digital presence, CASE Currents magazine and conference promotional activities.
He has more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit marketing and is a leading contributor on branding and fundraising topics to industry periodicals including CASE Currents, Change, Advancing Philanthropy and Trusteeship. His book on higher education branding—The Real U: Building Brands That Resonate with Students, Faculty, Staff, and Donors—was published by CASE in 2010. A more recent book—Net Proceeds: Increased Revenue from Enrollment and Advancement Guaranteed!—was published by CASE in 2013.
A founding member of CASE's Industry Advisory Council, Moore most recently has been working with a group of distinguished volunteers in articulating CASE's brand architecture.
Fred Weiss serves as CASE's chief research and data officer. In this role, he has primary responsibility for CASE's global data strategy based upon the input of our members. He manages all of CASE's research and data initiatives, including AMAtlas, a global resource for educational advancement-related metrics, benchmarks and analytics. Amongst other responsibilities, Fred also provides strategic oversight for DRIVE/, CASE's reporting and analytics conference. He holds a bachelor's degree from Boston University, where he implemented the first computer-assisted tele-fundraising system in the United States and where he worked as a major gifts fundraiser.
A leader in the higher education advancement community with more than 25 years of experience, Fred served as president and CEO of iModules Software Inc., before joining CASE as a strategic advisor in October 2017. Prior to iModules, Fred was with Ellucian and its predecessor companies for 21 years.
Fred is a long-time volunteer for CASE, having served in a variety of positions, including as an inaugural member of the Industry Advisory Council, twice as a CASE Board Member, and as a long-time speaker at CASE conferences. His association with CASE started in 1986, when he was named a CASE District I scholar.
Diane Young is chief financial officer at CASE. Appointed to the newly created position in June 2017, Young brings more than 20 year experience in multi-corporation financial and operations management to CASE.
Previously, Young served at designDATA Inc., a managed services and IT consulting organization, where she provided senior-level technical consulting for nonprofits and associations. Prior to this position, Young served as vice president of accounting and controller for the Global Business Travel Association, which has 6,000 members and offices in eight countries, and as director of finance and administration for the American Industrial Hygiene Association, which named her employee of the year in 2006. She also served as director of finance for Association Management Group, which provides management services to 18 nonprofit associations.
Among her recent accomplishments, Young led the development of a new investment policy; established legal corporate entities in several countries; led the conversion of 21 companies to a new accounting system; set up financial and banking systems in multiple currencies; and implemented an automated budget management system that provided a streamlined tool for staff to enter budgets and reforecast projections.
